We will be hosting an informational coffee and open house for individuals interested in learning more about volunteering at the zoo. Attendees will have a chance to meet the animals used in our educational programs, learn about the different ways they can help the Lee Richardson Zoo, visit with current volunteers and tour the education center.
The mission of the Lee Richardson Zoo is to instill appreciation and encourage stewardship of the Earth’s natural treasures through exhibition, conservation and interpretation of wildlife. Last year we reached more than 200,000 people through on site graphics, discovery carts, school programs and more. We hope to reach even more people this year and we need your help. Volunteers are needed to help in a variety of ways including set up and running special events, presenting animal programs, office work and providing animal enrichment.
Both weekend and weekday volunteers are needed. No prior experience or scientific knowledge necessary, volunteers will receive training to develop the skills and knowledge necessary. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older and able to attend weekly training sessions which will begin in mid-January and be scheduled around participants’ availability.
If you would like more information about how you can help the Zoo share the wonder of wildlife and spread its message of conservation, please attend our informational coffee on Saturday, January 4th at 2:00PM in the Finnup Center for Conservation Education, 312 Finnup Dr. You do not need to attend the coffee to volunteer.
