Tumbleweed Festival

at the Zoo

The Lee Richardson Zoo will be open to pedestrians only (no vehicle traffic) after 4 pm Friday the 22nd and all day Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24, due to the Tumbleweed Festival, a Music & Arts Festival put on by Tumbleweed Festival, Inc.  The festival will take place on the west side of the zoo. Zoo visitors will be able to view all animal exhibits from outside festival grounds with the exception of the bison and elk yard, as the road and sidewalk there will be closed to accommodate festival needs.

In addition, the west green of the zoo will remain open until 9:30 PM on Friday and Saturday for festival attendees, but zoo staff will maintain normal hours and observe our regular 6:30 PM closing procedures.

Pedestrians are admitted to the zoo free; however there is a separate admission fee to the festival. Entrances to the festival are located at the Southwest corner of the zoo, off of Main Street, and inside the northwest corner of the zoo near the camel exhibit, accessible via the 5th Street exit gate.
