Tumbleweed Festival

The Lee Richardson Zoo will be open to pedestrians only (no vehicle traffic) beginning 4:00 Friday, August 22nd, and all day Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24, due to the Tumbleweed Festival, a Music & Arts Festival put on by Tumbleweed Festival, Inc.  The festival will take place on the west side of the zoo.

Zoo visitors will be able to view all animal exhibits from outside the festival area with the exception of the bison and elk exhibit, and kangaroo and emu exhibit as the road and sidewalk by those areas will be closed to accommodate festival needs.

In addition, the west green of the zoo will remain open until the Festival’s performances have concluded for the day, but zoo staff will maintain normal hours and observe our regular 7:00 PM closing procedures for exhibits and the rest of the zoo property.

Pedestrians are admitted to the zoo free; however there is a separate admission fee to the festival. Entrances to the festival are located at the Southwest corner of the zoo off of Main Street, and west of the waterfall near the camel exhibit.
