The Lee Richardson Zoo has an opening for a General Curator. This position is responsible for the living collection, including animal health and welfare, collection planning, recruiting, training and supervising animal care personnel, communicating effectively with staff and collaborative partners, assisting with exhibit design, collaborating on general operations and other management issues. The General Curator also oversees permits, animal records, and animal care division budget. The position reports to the Zoo Director.
A Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences field and three to five years progressive responsibilities in exotic animal care and management, and two to three years supervisory experience in an AZA accredited or similar institution is required.
The ideal candidate will have strong team leadership and management skills, a positive attitude, the capability to multitask, and excellent communication skills.
Salary range starts at $47,476 with a competitive benefit package.
