Registrar/secretary responsibilities include maintaining and updating animal records and federal and state permits; coordinating animal transfers; animal care division scheduling and payroll; assisting with staff training on records as well as coordinating some annual training; representing the zoo to government agencies, other zoos, and vendors; tracking information necessary for accreditation.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: general upkeep of office and associated area, coordinating community service workers, making reports for Director, General Curator and Facilities Manager.  Good communication, organizational, and computer skills, and the ability to work well alone or with others in a team environment are a must.



Applicants must have a minimum of an Associate of Arts Degree in secretarial, business or a related field and 5 years of experience working in an office for an executive division manager or equivalent combination of training, education and experience; or a minimum of an Associate degree in one of the life sciences, records management or other related field and 2 years of experience in an AZA accredited zoo or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Valid Kansas Driver’s license, the ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in all conditions typical of southwest Kansas is required.  


Reports to General Curator.
