Species Survival Plan (SSP)

 

Preservation of species is a primary goal of all zoos. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan was put together a plan help preserve threatened and endangered species in zoos. Cooperative breeding among facilities helps spread the genes and lessens or prevents inbreeding with small populations of animals.
