Zoo Facilities Manager


The Lee Richardson Zoo is seeking a Facilities Manager. 


This position is responsible for:


  • Coordinating, planning, assisting with and supervising maintenance of zoo facilities: buildings, fences, vehicles/equipment, and grounds
  • selecting, training, and supervising building/grounds maintenance personnel
  • overseeing division budget
  • site preparations for events
  • snow removal
  • communicating effectively with staff and collaborative partners
  • assisting with landscaping
  • exhibit design and installation
  • other general operations, security, and management issues
  • Performs skilled, semi-skilled and manual work functions associated with the maintenance of zoo facilities.

    Must have knowledge of/experience:

  • routine electrical procedures
  • irrigation systems
  • safe and proper application/storage of herbicides and other chemicals
  • basic horticulture
  • safe working practices
  • working with and fabrication using a variety of metal materials, and rough carpentry methods
  • High school diploma or GED required, with relevant post-secondary degree or coursework preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance, irrigation systems, carpentry or a related field preferred.
