Summer is almost here and once school is out your “little monkeys” are sure to start bouncing off the walls. We at the zoo specialize in “wild” behavior and have just the opportunity for your young ones during those endless summer days:
Zoo Edventures are week long day camps for students entering 1st through 12th grade next fall. Each Edventure runs Monday through Friday from 8AM to noon and is filled with activities, crafts and, of course, animals. Whether your student has a passion for animals or just likes to blow dandelions in the wind, this is the camp for you.
1st through 4th graders have two camp options. Youngercampers can join us on June 8th through 12th and July 6th through 10th while 3rd and 4th graders will have a wild time June 15th through 19th and July 13th through 17th. Each week is unique so campers can attend one or both Edventures.
Students entering 5th or 6th grade will also have fun June 22nd through 26th as they explore animal competition and 7th and 8th graders will get hands on experience as Junior Wildlife Biologists July 20th through 24th.
This year we are expanding our offerings to include a “volunteen” program for 9th through 12th graders. Students will come for a week of camp in which they will learn the ins and outs of running a day camp and even a little about caring for the zoo’s animals. They will then have an opportunity to return later in the summer to help as a leader for one of the younger grades’ camps as well as a chance to become a zookeeper for a week at the end of the summer.
All Edventures are $75 per week ($70 for FOLRZ members) which includes a commemorative t-shirt. Need-based financial assistance is available on a first come basis. Please see the attached flier and registration form for moreinformation. I hope to see you this summer!
